I've seen no evidence that it does, though the tld (top level domain) can.

If you want to attract visitors from a particular country, choose that type of domain.

E.g. for uk: google.co.uk is more appropriate than google.com.

The domain name you choose can be helpful for people - fredsgarage.com is likely to be remembered by people who know him, and trust him (despite his chosen career as a used car salesman) :)

I used to think at one time the domain name and relevance did mean something, but now I do not think it does.

In SEO, not much. For people, yes. They sometimes need them for easy identification.

IMHO.....it's a huge factor, but that's just me!

Domain name counts!

In my opinion I think it does.Having an easy-to-remember domain name counts a lot in the amount of traffic leading to your site.
Quite simply, the longer your domain, the harder it will be for people to remember. Clearly,if users canít remember the name of your website then this is not going to help increase or even maintain your brand recognition-Fact.
I'm sure you've all seen those extra long domain names and wondered what that person was thinking about putting up something like that.
So,yes.It does matter in seo.

It not much helpful for SEO, but it gives the clear message to user all about your website.

I was under impression that it used to be important, but similar to anchor text, it's no longer as important as it was.
