Online Small Business Appeal - What are the Motivating Factors?

By enabling entrepreneurs to start a business online and immediately reach a market of 158 million registered users worldwide, it's no wonder why eBay has become the best place to grow and operate a small business.

Nearly three-quarters of a million people say they rely on eBay sales for their income. One and a half million people supplement their income by selling on ebay and of them 724,000 ebay sellers rely on it as their primary source of income.

Ebay has had a significant impact on America's small-business growth. Income and independence are the main motivators for current business owners selling on eBay. . . .with the primary motivator being independence, which is becoming an increasingly important factor to many these days - even more so than personal income.

Which of the two do you think is the primary motivating factor that is behind the significant increase of online small business ownership?
