Thoughts On Google+?

We've recently been looking into Google's new social network, Google+. Do you think Google+ is too late to the party, or will its innovative features be enough to make users jump ship from Facebook?

From what I know about facebook, one thing being how addictive it is.. I don't know how anything could replace or take over it, and I don't know a great deal about google+.. can you explain to me why it is so good?

Although I've just played with G+ (I'd like to call it this way) for about an hour and, while there is a lot of existing issues that Google Plus is nothing compared to Twitter and Facebook, in particular, I give it a qualified “thumbs up.”

I like it, for a few reasons: One, their "circles" feature makes it easy to organize the people you connect with; two, the interface is clean and minimal but effective; three, it’s not yet clogged up with bots and announcements from games and other apps. So in short it's clean, easy to use, not obnoxious.

Is it perfect? No, but it’s better than what I expected it to be.

There is just one thing that I would like to see on G+ and that is some kind of a personal messaging system – something like inbox on Facebook. Either that or make the “Send an email” button on Google profiles so people are able to reach each other privately and still got notified of that.

Hope this helps! :welcome2:

We'd have to agree with Rojae. The 'circles' feature is probably the best asset to G+. It definitely comes in handy when determining who you want to share an individual update or post with. We've outlined our pros and cons in our latest blog post (http://buzz.waspbarcode.com/google-explained/).

Haven't use Google+ yet. If it is another social networking site, what are the incentives for people to hop over to it from facebook?

Google +1

I am not going to manage more than one social media site...Facebook has my attention until it fades away like myspace. Google +1 will keep Facebook on it's toes and continue to improve. For now Facebook is where I am staying, not going to even play around on Google +1.

ughh... one more thing to add to my never-ending "to do" list.
I don't know anything about google+1 but I guess I need to learn.
If it's competing to replace facebook, I think it's facing the same fight than bing is facing in trying to replace google... :)
Do you have to have a google account and be logged in to use +1?
If so, what percent of people on the internet meet requirement... 10%? 30%? 50%?

I don't think that it will last long as Google+ has the same meaning as Facebook and what for to have identical social media sites.

I am not impressed with facebook at all.. I tried using the FB ad network and was very disappointed. the UI was poor at best and once I was able to understand how they delivered the metrics I soon realized that they are not able to catch click spam. I read a couple forums about click quality and I think this is an un told secret. FB is missing some fundamental infrastructure to be successful.. Bring on Google+
