Highrise (highrisehq.com) is good for keeping track of contacts if you don't have complicated needs. It will allow you to enter a lot of information on each and set up task reminders. It's free for a minimal account, with very reasonable rates for paid accounts that have greater capacity and extra features.

FreeCRM likewise has a free version you can start with to see if it works for you, and a paid "Pro" version that offers additional features and support.

Pipeline deals is a relatively inexpensive online sales lead tracking application. It offers a free 30-day trial so you can give it a spin and see if it will work for you.

SugarCRM (as mentioned above by Yoyoma) is also pretty good.

I'm sure there are many others...
