Default Changed web hosts 3 weeks ago- then lost all Google indexed pages

First post here.

I just changed web hosts just over 3 weeks ago and am not being indexed by Google. Though I have changed a lot of things at that time. Like my server headers not having the expiry date and last-modified date set.

I specialize in development (web and software) and am now delving into SEO. It is extremely challenging and interesting!

Is it maybe because of the Google sandbox because of the new IP address from the new web host? I thought that was not supposed to happen when moving...

I submitted the xml via GSiteCrawler to Google Sitemaps just over a week ago now. Still nothing.

Any ideas?

Thank you kindly.

Dan V.

Hi Dan, you are correct that isn't how the theories of the 'sandbox' work. I don't think it is that.

Using Google's Sitemap is a good idea. Does it provide you any information/feedback regarding googlebot having trouble indexing your pages?

Default Google SiteMaps results

Thanks Logan.
I actually changed web hosts on April 22 to be exact.

Google Sitemaps always has said under "Potential indexing problems" that "Some of your pages are partially indexed."

And now I just noticed (haven't checked in about 5 days) it has more diagnostic info under HTML errors:

I noticed that the site-map.shtml and web-design.shtml pages are listed in a subfolder. That is incorrect, they should not be in that sub folder, but in the root folder.

I don't know where Google got those 3 incorrect URL's from:
1. I checked the gsitecrawler URL list and the URL's are correct.
2. I checked my source code - nada
3. I did a broken link checker last week - nada

Under HTTP Errors:
-------------------
URL Type Detail Last Calculated
http://www.example.com/404error.htm Web 4xx error May 19
http://www.example.com/articles/site-map.shtml Web 404 not found May 15
http://www.example.com/articles/web-design.shtml Web 404 not found May 15

My .htaccess file redirects errors to php files that sometimes adds the correct server header and then redirects to a user friendly .shtml page.

I had some error pages that were always there as default from the web host so I deleted them all...

My .htaccess file should handle the errors...
------------------------------------------
XBitHack Full

AddHandler server-parsed inc
Options +FollowSymLinks

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

### activate mod_expires
ExpiresActive On
# Expire all docs and images by default to 1 day in future
ExpiresDefault "access plus 1 day"
# Expire images 6 months from when they're accessed
# if getting 304 errors, set expire to 25 yrs and if need to change image - delete and rename image
ExpiresByType image/gif "access plus 6 months"
ExpiresByType image/jpg "access plus 6 months"

ErrorDocument 404 /error404.php
ErrorDocument 410 /error410.php
ErrorDocument 500 /error500.php
