Default How Do You Find Trade Shows?

I'm curious to know where everyone finds out about when trade shows are held. Is it mostly word of mouth, online?

Every one I've been to has been sparked by word of mouth. Typically people I encounter that are well established with the industry already. My experience has been the online information is more a supplement to me once I'm already aware of the trade show.

I think most people finds trade shows thru search engines.
I found one good site to browse the current trade shows listing:

I agree - most are word of mouth but most industries will have some sort of website with all the events dedicated to that sector on it - just a case of good old google!!

It used to be word to mouth but these days when there are so many trade shows many use trade show directories.
I use http://www.bvents.com its quite good.

But these directories don't have all the answers, ask your business friends about the future events and show.

If your town has a convention center, go online and look at its events calendar. Most large towns will have this information online.

If you're looking for specific industry trade shows I would recommend calling associations in those industries. Another way if you're just looking for local trade shows is to call the chamber of commerce and check the websites of places where they usually have shows.

There are a bunch of websites that have trade show schedules and calendars. If your looking for local shows visit your local convention centers website they should have a schedule for all their upcoming shows.

Hope this helps

Itís all about money.
You can afford to attend the major convention centers - Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, etc. - go on their convention centers websites/event calendars. You will find all you need.
You donít have such a budget check with your local/area convention center.
Letís not forget , the show attendance is a major factor - itís useless to rent a boot if nobody will visit you.
I donít believe the ďword to mouthĒ is the most effective way to find the right show - every year is different.

Before, trade shows are promoted either through word of mouth or printed materials. Well, these are still being used, but electronic media are the preferred choice nowadays. The internet, especially, is being heavily utilized to promote different events.
