Hello,
My husband and I started a new business for self defense and home safety and security products. We are both prior military and I was previous a law enforcement officer. These backgrounds and experiences have given us a strong base and knowledge of these products and the importance of keeping families and friends safe.
As e-commerce in new to us, any input would be invaluable to the development of our business and website. We looked forward to being in this community.

Best Regards,
Jennifer and Mike

Hello Jennifer and Mike,

If you are new to e-commerce as you said, then I would recommend promoting your business on-line by social media. When done right Facebook, Twitter and article writing can really boost your traffic. For example with Facebook don't make a regular Facebook page, instead make a fan page. I have NOT tested this myself, because I already get good traffic to my website off my regular page. However, there are many out there that solidly swear by this tactic.

Good luck to you both,
MacB

For a Facebook page, you have to create it separately through the "advertise" link (but don't create an ad, just a page). You don't modify your personal profile.

I've already found with my blog that it can be tough to add fans and even tough to get visitors from a personal page promoting, BUT some find a lot more success with hits. *shrug*

Thanks Sydebrand for the advice about Facebook. We will try it as any extra promoting would be good. I would think that would be quality buyers since most are friends?
Reading the posts here in the forums are helpful and quite knowledgable for us newbie's.

Thanks again,

Jen and Mike-
