Default Duplicate Content A No-no?

If i make a small site with duplicate content(legally from article site), will search engines shoot it out of the water? Or could i expect some traffic with this mini-site approach. I fully understand that i won't rank #1.

For duplicate content your website would be penalized by the search engines. Your website won't rank for any keywords in the serp's. You can still invite visitors on your website by promoting it through social media.

Yes you will be penalized. It's not a good idea to have duplicate content. It's much better to do natural link building, and slowly build your rankings that way.

Default Understand with examples..

There are various circumstances and situations which creates duplicate content, so make sure before you applying any solution. e.g. someone steal your content and it becomes duplicate for search engine, but don't worry, you have the original copy of that content. Further, technically the URL structure itself create a duplicate content like canonical url so, these are the main examples of DC.

Yes, your website may be penalized by search engines. You can use a single content for many article sites but for your website you have to put original & informative content so that search engine like to crawl your site.

...Well, thanks for those responses.

Actually, I see where ArticleCity.com (as an example) offers free articles to duplicate, if you also include the authors link in-there(whatever). So, I was wondering what would happen should somebody attempt to duplicate articles on their own web pages; there are people already doing it, even on established sites(FYI).

And I have seen with my own eyes where the original and duplicates ranked first page when it wasn't too competative. So, If I develop a bunch of small duplicate content sites, what traffic could be expected, compared to a average site with unique content over the course of a month, year?

I made this mistake before. I wrote articles, but instead of posting them on my site first, I posted them on ezinearticles.com first, and then they were duplicate content FOR MY OWN SITE! I had to tell my robots.txt page to ignore those pages so that google would not ding me.

Does your ezine article already been posted to ezine? Because I think deleting it in ezine articles will make you sure that you will not get ding by Google.

I had a program I used once upon a time called Article Post Robot. I don't think it is maintained any more, but it did post my articles to over 400 article posting sites. Part of the reason behind that was most article sites allowed 2 anchor text signatures back to your site. It was beneficial to receive those backlinks from across the web from an article that was related to my sites as far as content.

If I had posted to my site first, it would have been indexed as original content there. Instead, I posted it 400 places first, so had to put no follow tags to not get dinged. At least that is how I understood it at the time. Unfortunately, it wasn't as easy as deleting content from one site.
