Default Question About Content To Write

Hello All,

I have my web-based business about ready to launch. It is a place for small businesses to find the right solution provider for their business.

I created an associated blog as well - but I'm curious, what would small businesses find useful as I begin to think about good content?

Or are there just too many small business blogs and the best strategy is to spread the word organically?

Having a blog pointing back to your site should not hurt.

It will also give you a chance to get your message across to your audience.

If you are sole professional, blogging can get tedious, if you are also doing other functions in your business.

There are a lot of small business blogs out there. However, there are still a lot of unique propositions that are not adequately covered which I think your blog can.

Based on the description of your new business, I would recommend content that are based around solutions providers for small businesses. It can be interviews with small business owners on how they choose or what they look for when shortlisting certain types of service providers. On the other hand, you can also conduct interviews with service providers regarding their services, work flow as well as on the reasons why small business owners have to choose them.

Of course, there are tons of content ideas that you can apply such as a moving trend in different solutions provider circles (accounting, tech support, offshore, etc.), authoritative content (tips, tricks and guides) by solutions providers and more.

The key here is differentiation. Do not create a blog like any other people are doing. Try to publish some information that are really practical, interviews and experiments to really help people.

I agree with Joshua. You have to be different somehow. There are so many blogs and information we now have to sift through on a daily basis, you need to find a way to stand out.

As mentioned earlier. Day to day blogging can get tedious so you may want to consider a ghost writer.

Good luck.

Blog about things that you have expertise in. There are many similar blogs out there and you will need to have something that people will associate you with. So let say your expertise is in marketing, then focus more on marketing topics and add a little bit of other business topics into the mix.

Try writing about specific aspects regarding your business. You can advise people on how to be more successful and tell them about your own personal experiences. As long as you are knowledgeable in the subject you're writing about, you should do great. People love reading things that they can learn from, so you can never go wrong with that.
