My aunt does it as a secondary source of income. She says it's extremely stressful, and if I'm not mistaken, she wants to quit.

It's not difficult to sell a few things there but it's a whole other thing to rely on it as a primary source of income...buyers are looking for the cheapest prices so competition is undoubtedly very stiff.

I sold a lot on ebay. I bought delinquent storage units and sold quite a bit there, but it was still a second income.

Donīt know anybody whose main source of income comes from Ebay selling, whereas I know quite a few that make a quick buck now and then from it. I have to agree with the other users that said that it would be too hard and time consuming and not really 100% sure - itīs great to get rid of extra stuff if you already have some sort of store though. Or on the side as an extra sale channel.

yes, I know of 2 friend who's main income was from selling on ebay. it got to a point where they had to have a small warehouse, a couple of employees to keep up with shipping, answering customers emails and order processing.

some draw backs include:

You have to figure out and stick to a strict posting schedule to make sure you always have all of your products on there.

pretty hefty bill from ebay at the frequency they're selling and posting on ebay. his monthly bill from ebay was always in 5 figures.

and yes, without employees, (if you're selling stuff out of your garage ) No non-working vacations.

I have sold on Ebay for a number of years as a secondary source of income. It's not something I would consider doing as a primary source of income for a number of reasons. I also enjoy buying things from Ebay and looking for good deals. I'm not a fan of the price wars/bidding wars though.
