Default New Member Intro :)

Hey everyone,

I have been looking for a really good forum for Small Business that is also kind to people who are new to business. While I am not new to owning my own business, this is my first eCommerce Company, and I have found that business ownership takes on a whole new meaning when you dedicate yourself to Customer Service! Thankfully, that is the reason I started my Company to begin with.

I am not too sure if in the New Member Intro if I am supposed to introduce myself, my Company, or both, so I will try to be brief on all!

So as not to bore you all, I will simply say that I am a slightly Over the Hill middle age guy who had to end a wonderful career in IT in 2009 due to medical issues.

As a way to help over come my mounting medical bills and to try and keep my mind active and young, I found that there was a huge pet peeve I had with eCommerce Companies, and I knew that I could prove to everyone that Personal Customer Service does not have to disappear just because they decide to sell their products online instead of in a brick and mortar store. It's been almost 2 years now since I started my Company and it's still going strong!

Being that in my younger years I was a Firefighter and EMT I saw so many tragedies and the worst part was that many of them could have been prevented if people had just been prepared! And let's not forget about all the nonsense going on around the world. So I decided that I would start a Small Online Retail Company selling a mix of Survival / Prepper Gear as well as Outdoor Safety Gadgets. And since I got a head start in the business selling Pocket Knives, I continue to sell everything from Rescue Knives, to Survival and Hunting Knives.

As you can imagine, this comes with a number of laws and regulations that I have to abide by, but it's certainly nothing that can't be done if you do you homework and understand the laws and also have a strong sense of right and wrong and create your own policies so that your Customers find themselves dealing with a Company that puts them first in every possible way.

I have a strong focus on Customer Service and have learned that if you take excellent care of your Customers, your business will run extremely smooth.

The hardest part of my Company is the operations side, and for that reason, I have come to this forum. My hope is to learn a few things about Marketing, SEO, and all the back-end utilities and programs that help to get the most out of any business, and in return, I hope to be able to share some of my experiences and the tips and tricks I have picked up over the years of being a business owner.

This is my 3rd business, and while the first two did not work out, I got a good understanding of why they failed, and in certainly places I was at fault, but I have since taken those failures and used them as a learning experience to ensure my current business is nothing but a success!

Well, that was a bit more then I expected to write, so I hope that I did not bore anyone to sleep! lol Hopefully, I will meet some wonderful people here and who knows we just may wind up becoming colleagues!

Best Regards,

Dardwizzle (named after my cat Darwin)
