Default A Little Failure Can Be A Good Thing

There was an inspiring guest on The Small Business Trends Radio Show last week covering the topic of confidence - and how it can be built through failures and resiliency.

Many of you have participated in a discussion here on the topic of intuition and your thoughts and comments have been enlightening and inspiring. With that in mind, I felt that this particular topic of failure and confidence would be a nice follow-up discussion.

All to often many of us ignore our gut and those tiny little warning systems that are primaly put into place. And when we do that, a failure may be the end result. And once you've suffered a failure, a lack of confidence may be the end result of the entire experience. This is in business as it is in life.

Our guest, Barry Moltz, is not only an entrepreneur that has suffered several failures - but he is a motivational speaker as well and has just released a new book titled, "Bounce." One common thread that I noticed in his teachings that is in line with the theory of the law of attraction is to "take control of your thoughts." Give yourself ample time to make the necessary adjustments and grieve, cry, scream - whatever it may be that you need to do. But then make a conscious effort to "take control of your thoughts."

Because it's so very true, if your thoughts are your fears - they will manifest themselves into your reality. And if your thoughts are your aspirations, they too will manifest themselves into your reality.

Barry shared a lot of good insight and thoughts into the topic of failure and confidence - how to turn lemons into lemonade.

Well, it is very true. It can be a very good instrument for us to learn-only when we're optimistic enough to approach failures as an opportunity.

Then get over it.

Each of the actions that you listed takes energy. The longer that you dwell on them the more energy will be used.

Some of the most fulfilling things in life are those where you take a negative experience and turn it into a positive. For an example take a look at this website. Click on the Meet Paul button. It will inspire you.

Tom, you make an excellent point. The amount of energy expenditure depends on YOU. How long are going to let it affect you? How much time do you need to process it and move on?

Take the necessary recovery period and then get up, brush yourself off and start all over again - one day at a time.

Failure is inevitable. And as long as we have that optimism and enough energy to get over it(as Tom mentioned)- only then little failure can be a good thing.

Mgi, it does take time for optimism and energy to return doesn't it? You just have to wade through it and acknowledge that time is a requirement with such things.

And then eventually, you notice that your energy level is increasing as well as your confidence and your optimism. And when that happens, it's only a matter of time before things return to their normal pace. But it doesn't happen overnight so one should expect for there to be a certain amount of time involved to restore yourself.

Going through a couple of failure and not giving up, builds up confidence. You have to learn to roll with the punches, and only then you'll succeed.

Yes, sanwood. Time is the most important element in achieving that enough energy and optimism to move on from our failures.

I have noticed many times that through failure, one can gain insight to an otherwise missed opportunity had the failure not presented itself. It's like the saying, once one door has been closed, another one opens.
