Exclamation Is Direct Mail Really Dead?

Even with sky high postage costs, a properly executed direct mail campaign still provides a solid ROI. What? You've bought into the myth that direct mail is dead?

You're not alone. And while people are entitled to their own opinions about direct mail, they're not entitled to their own facts. Here are the facts...Continue reading Is Direct Mail Really Dead?

David,

As far as I am concerned direct mail is not dead. When companies have sent me direct mail, I have often saved the advert, and checked their services, especially if it's something, I am interested in.

I am about to do a direct marketing campaign for our business. I have my own ideas, and strategies. Time will tell how effective it is. However, as you rightly said, postcage costs are way too high for small businesses in the UK.

Yep, your response falls right in line with the other studies.

Direct mail is not dead.

The main advantage of direct mail is that itís personal. Even though it may be carried out on an large scale, carefully worded copy can seem to address the recipient directly. The mail piece also gets the recipientís undivided attention, for a few seconds at least.

Most people still like to receive "real" mail.

Or until people no longer like receiving mail.

It's very true, I am more likely to pay attention to direct mail than any online advertising. I just think I actually look at something when it's sent with my bills!

I can tell that our internal data will state across the board that response rates on direct mail have gone up this year. We have quantifiable data to support that.

I think that is the result of some big players lessening there direct marketing and I think the other cause is that coupon clipping in general rises during rough economic times.

I think direct mail still works, at least for some business. I seldom check the online junk mails, however I usually have a look of the direct mails.

Yes, direct mail is a way of getting a good offer into the hands of your readers.
