Default Tools To Monitor If A Website/hosting Goes Down

Hi all, I'm putting together some resources on tools members can use to monitor if their website or hosting goes down. A few that I'm familiar with ..

https://uptimerobot.com/
https://www.pingdom.com/

I also know that www.clicky.com is a stats program that let's you setup alerts

1) Do you use any tools to monitor if your website goes down? If so, tell us more and what you use. If not, is there a reason you don't monitor your site(s)?

2) Do you have any tips you've learned to make sure your website is always online and available?
