Smaller displays are the rising trend. For most companies large, custom exhibits are not cost effective or practical. They are expensive and hard to transport. Portable pop up displays and banner stands are the most effective options for most exhibitors. Although large companies such as Microsoft, Apple, and Boeing still need professional custom exhibits to make an impact.

You're right Matt - smaller displays are gaining ground.

We have some interesting stats from our on line trade show booth design tool.
We can see which products are trending.

Our users are typically split into 2 groups, there's a free version that allows companies to design their own booth. And a pro version for professional exhibition designers. The data is gathered not just from babycad, but also from several portable kit manufacturers that use the same application on their sites.

It's interesting to see the statistics from group 1 lead the trends.

We have not split the data to see regional differences, but it would be interesting. if we do, I'll post some results here.

Default Green Trade Show Displays

I have noticed a trend to become more environmentally friendly when designing your booth.

Default LED Lighting

LED lighting has become very popular in the past couple years. It saves money on electric bills by using less power and the light bulbs last forever, which make it much more eco-friendly. You do have to be careful to avoid certain LED lights that are quite weak and put off a blue hue.

I'm looking for some products, I've seen some bamboo banners and similar products, do you know who manufactures them?

Almost all bamboo displays are manufactured in China or other Asian countries. The most popular are banner stands and literature racks.

Smaller exhibits definitely make a lot of sense for businesses exhibiting at multiple shows around the country. That's virtually impossible with the monster exhibits, unless you've got a hella budget.

Many companies provide cookie cutter displays. A custom display is of course more expensive but is worth its weight in gold. Especially because it can be used for years. The display is your first impression of your company and will attract custoemrs to you. If you look like everyone else, what reason are you giving them to come talk to you?

Absolutely, davidm4210. Even just a little goes a long way. Sometimes, if you just get noticed by one more VC than you would have otherwise had, it could more than pay for the cost of your materials and labor.
