Now, I do not swap - period - though lots of folks e-mail each week wanting a slice of my PR that's higher than theirs - too bad. They can work for it like I did.

Ultimately, if the Webmaster is serious about the link exchange, it'll only take him minutes to get the link live - maybe a couple of hours. If it's more than a couple of days, dump them.

There are too many other more important things to concentrate on so don't invest time on this tactic if you don't have to.

Hey, is the same of a link request letter for a recriprocal link or one way link?

Hey Best - I'd suggest a similar approach in either case. regardless of your goal - one-way link or recip link - the goal remains that you should appear as professional as possible.

Link exchange has become less and less worthwile, so one way is the only way to go. Offering a useful bit of info is really the best way to get someone to organically link to your site. However forum sigs and blog commenting can't hurt. It just takes a lot of time and effort. But it were easy, everybody would be doing it.
