Default New Penguin / Panda Update SOON!

Hi all, I just wanted to bring awareness that coming this Friday, March 15, Matt Cutts recently announced they will be running a new, update Panda algorithm for Google. It could be Monday the 18th at the latest.

The goal of course, is to target spammers and those using methods outside of google's guidelines to get ranked.

This algorithm was last ran about a year ago, and I was speculating last week that google should be doing this soon -- and they are.

If you see your website ranking #1 recently, you may be not there after this update. If you have been losing ranks to spammers, you may see yourself going up. This is from my experience.

I really look forward to this update, it reaffirms that google is (recently) trying to seriously address black hat seo methods.

.. And I'm not seeing much of an impact to SERPS at all. Anyone else notice a difference? Or did this update even get rolled out? It is supposedly part of the algorithm now.

The new update was just announced by Matt Cutts on May 22nd, the newest version, referred by Matt Cutts as Penguin 2.0 and that is in action now. I don't know what is exactly changed yet. my conclusion is that content matters more than everything else and we need fresh content all the time in order to keep our results in Google searches.

I just want to reaffirm something- If I'm adding fresh content, but no one links to it, does it still have value?

Also, if a tree falls in the woods and no ones around to hear it...

There is a big difference b/w Algo update and data refresh. Data refreshes keep happening all the time - mostly unnoticed. Since previous pandas have already levelled the playing field - the impact would not be that bad.

What I think he actually said was than Panda is now part of the rolling Search Algorithm and the Panda aspect gets re-calculated and rolled out every month during 10 days - it has not been clarified if that is 10 days spread out each month or a block of days.

In my own sites I have a couple which are impacted by Panda and these see a steady decline suggesting that it is rolled out evenly during the month.

Hope that helps
