CTR totally depends on how good is your website title & description, and how beneficial it for users to find out what they are exactly searching.

Totally agree with Karry on this. Try looking at what keywords where you rank well, then see how many clicks you're getting from them. If it seems low, then you probably want to work on your meta descriptions for those pages.

Link bait techniques can be of big help. This is using content to lure viewers to click your add. Make it interesting and brief but powerful.

Try testing different variations of the same landing page.

Also make sure your call to action is well presented and visible on your landing page. It should capture the user's attention.

Talking about traffic, try to make your traffic as targeted as possible, this will definitely help you increasing your CR.

It starts with a good (awesome and catchy) title. Research suggests that 50% of the attention should be grabbed just by reading the title.

Follow it up by a relevant and equally amazing content which can hook up your readers.

Try to write title and descriptions which will correspond the search quiery. Make people think that you know the answer to their quуstions.

One important factor seems to have been missed from the above. Your SERPs position.

Before you panic too much about your CTR you should try to get some idea of what you could reasonably expect the CTR to be 'on average'.

If you are on or about that % then even if it seems low - it could be OK. (Though you should always consider whether your title and description are helping you as much as they can or not).

Although I'm not guaranteeing these percentages from this site they seem to have some resonance across a whole range of % I've seen over the years.

Where exactly are you talking about? CTR on a SERP? Just want to make sure that this is answered appropriately. Catchy titles can increase CTR, but also decrease positioning.

Can you please clarify?

I recommend putting yourself in your visitors shoes. Ignore or resist any efforts to manipulate them. (Very important these days!)

When you are "being" your visitor, ask yourself, what are you looking for? What information is valuable?

Then test various strategies (there are several good ones above), to see which one works the best. Use your knowledge of what you visitors are looking for to tweak the tests.

The key is doing this from the visitors' viewpoint, not your own.

Hope that helps!
