Default On-line Hosted Contact Software

Hi Everyone,

Small bus of approx 10 ppl looking mainly for contact software so we can all share one database - hosted via the web - with no install on PC's needed since we all work out of our homes. Bonuses would be task managers included, shared calendars, etc.

Has anyone had experience with vendor/software and is happy with application and service?

Thanks in advance.

do yourself a favour and go over to hotscripts. there are some really good systems over there, and many for free, or at a fraction of the cost of full blown commercial software.

One of my clients are currently testing out a couple for their salesforce (because I bullied them into it)

Default Online - hosted Contact Software

Klynne,

It is true that you can get free or virtually free scripts but these solutions are 1) not hosted by a vendor, they are hosted by you, and 2) are not supported by a vendor, so if something goes wrong, you're out of luck. This is not the kind of solution you want to run your business with.

The two biggest names in the online contact management/CRM industry are salesforce.com and SugarCRM. However, they are both very expensive and provide far more functionality (and hence complexity) than most small business people can afford or tolerate. Salesforce STARTS at $65 per user per month but usually ends up much higher after the sales guy has his way with you. SugarCRM is slightly less expensive but still way more than you need to pay.

Regards,
Kregg

If budget is a concern and you want a hosted solution, you might take a look at FreeCRM.com. Even the "Pro" version is only about $15 a month per user, which is significantly less than some of the alternatives. There's a free version, which would allow you to try out many of the features of the system with no obligation. The Pro version offers additional support, unlimited data storage, integration with MS Office, synch with Outlook/Palm, etc.

Personally, I find the user interface somewhat confusing, but depending on your experience level with CRM systems, your mileage may vary.

If you're comfortable hosting the solution yourself (and promise to be diligent about taking database backups!), OWG's solution of HotScripts is an excellent alternative.

Sounds like a CMR system? Maybe Sugar CMR? It depends on what you might be looking for etc. We actually use SmarterMail that allows us to share contacts, calendar, etc.

Default Relenta CRM

Howdy y'all,

We use Relenta. It's a relatively new software that is a crossbreed between webmail, contact manager and shared calendar. They still have quite a few things to work out before it becomes a killer app, but I do recommend it nonetheless.

Here is a link to WorkHappy.net's review (3 out of 5 stars)

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Default Hosted Contact Software

Your company should check out IceMail www (dot) icemail (dot) com

It is hosted Microsoft Exchange Software, and includes of course, Microsoft Exchange, calendaring, contact and contact management as well as task management and collaboration.

It's available for a reasonable monthly subscription.

Welcome klynne and Gary!

Have you checked out GMail? No task management, but the threaded nature of "conversations" or one of their spreadsheets could easily be used for that. They also have calendaring, cell phone access, chat and more. All shared and all free.

PM me if you need an invite ...

This might be a little late but we use joyent. They provide a solid application with solid support behind it.
