Look into setting up an online store using a drop ship company -- then you don't pay for all the inventory up front. Be sure whoever you use to set up your website knows a lot about search engine optimization and get your self up to speed on it too.

You really need to have your business be related to something you love. If you are addicted to playing games and know about different games and formats then have your business or blog related to games. It is very hard to put in the kind of hours that are required if you are not very enthused to start with about your business. Home businesses require a lot of time, work and passion.

Hi Emmanuel,
You mentioned that you want a service business. Do you mean that you want to provide a service at your home such as dog grooming, or perhaps a document scanning service?

There is a lot of good advice so far, but much of it suggests building a business online. Do you feel confident on a computer and would it interest you to pursue internet marketing?

If not, then think about whether you want to work with your hands in a creative type of business such as the arts or in more of a service or repair type of business.

And of course as mentioned already, what do you already love to do, have an interest in or perhaps do as a hobby that could perhaps become the base of a home business idea?

There are really an unlimited number of ideas, but you have to ask yourself more questions so you have more information to base your business idea search on.

I wish you lots of luck in your endeavors.

Yvette

you do have hobbies, right? start a blog and put ads on there, promote it and with some luck it'd be a good start!

Default Do what you love

You really have to do what you love.

This is so cliché, but it is true.

The one thing most start-up business owners neglect to respect is the highs and the lows of business.

Yes, there will be many highs and many lows. Not being prepared to "manage" the emotional rollercoaster that comes with business ownership will prove to be your failure.

The advantage to managing the highs and the lows is our passion and love for what we do.

The love of what we do as a business owner will carry us through the high and low times of business.

You cannot deny that there will be good times and bad times in business, it's what makes us stronger and smarter business owners.

Over the years not only have I been subjected to the highs and the lows, but most of my business is with business owners that have hit their low points and need a little lift.

The one trend that I can see is that their passion and love for what they do carries them through the low points.

Pick something you love.

Good Luck,

Allectus

I agree with others, pick some thing that you like to do. If you are really interested, you'll enjoy yourself and it won't feel so much like 'work'.

Do you make crafts? Would you like to have an online store?

Consultant positions are not for everyone but one benefit is that the process and sometimes even a website is already set up.

You must carefully think about the prospective product that you are going to sell if you're planning to go for online marketing. Essential factors to consider are the consumers' demands, uniqueness of the product, and establishing a connection with a consistent supplier. Take these advices to heart and you're off to a great start!

I would suggest as I have to so many others is that you do not start a business just to make money. Take some time with a pencil and paper and write down all of the things that you really like to do. Don't edit this as you go, just write them down.

This may take a while so take your time and get it all out of you. It may be sports, or cooking. It may be about animals or people or the forests, etc. This is about you.

Once you are done, set the list a side for a day or two and come back to it. Start going through the list and be extremely honest with yourself. The items on your list that really have no chance now that you had a day or two away from it, scratch them off the list.

By the time you are done you will start to see what your true passions are. Build a business around your passions and you will never work a day in your life.

I wish you all the success you dream of and more!

I agree with Tom Lindstrom. You can start affiliate marketing, is the best home based business. Because you can very easily do this from home. You only need one to two hours per day. You can easily develop it to bring in several income sources. Best of all, the cost to do business can be FREE with the appropriate program.
