Once I was finally able to break the 30 ton chains and anchors which tied me to Network-dellusions (solutions), I went with enom.com and have used them ever since. Maybe not the cheapest, but they do what I need, and I've never had a problem with transferring name-servers (through 4 different web-hosts over the years).

PS. Don't use the word "Millennium" in your domain name.
very commonly misspelled word.
I used to work with a company that made websites for people, my job was to help design the basic site, and help them choose a domain name. I would go over all the suggestions. Short name. Easy to remember. Catchy. and so on.

And wouldn't you know it. When it came time to get my own domain name, I broke every one of those rules.

Default 1&1 (SEDO) or Godaddy

I am new to this and have used both Godaddy and Sedo.com. I have no complaints and both have been easy to use and understand.

Hi Bno1manager, sorry to hear about he predicament you're finding yourself in, I hope the new website will work for you.

One thing you'll want to do as soon as you can -- if you haven't done so already -- is to check which websites have links to your old site and ask them to point the links to the new site instead. Google isn't very good at displaying backlinks, by the way, so you'll want to use Yahoo or MSN for that.

Having a .net domain instead of a .com shouldn't have all that much impact on your traffic, but it depends a bit on where your visitors come from. If most visitors find you online and follow a link to your website, or have your site bookmarked, .net isn't a problem.

If you do a lot of offline advertising, though, and people have to actually type the URL the first time they visit your site, then some will inadvertently type .com instead of .net since that is what they are most used to. In this case you'll want to make sure people notice the difference. Some website owners list their URL like somesite.NET -- a bit ugly, maybe, but more likely to get noticed.

I want to say something here.

Just for one domain buying, go and buy from www.yahoo.com only $2.99 a year for the first time customer. I don't like www.goddady.com as they wouldn't let you go or transfer your domain host and the prices you can see all around domain registrars are $9.99 or more. Enjoy...

I'm a godaddy satisfied user as well. Their superbowl commercials weren't my taste, and I tried their hosting and its aweful, but for domains, they are great.

Most of the time who ever you go to for your hosting will help you with a domain. I would recommend enom. I've heard a lot of horror stories about people getting a domain name and then trying to transfer it to another host and the registrar won't let them. It happens, I won't mention any names but some have already been mentioned. Your domain name is very important, just make sure you can move it if and when you want.
