Hey LC.

An example of viral marketing can be found at traffic digger and freeviral.

I've seen several types of viral marketing, but the two most common ones I have seen are as follows:

The first is in regards to list building. You offer a service or piece of information and opt in, when you opt-in you are given the option to send this information to 4 or 5 other people. If you input their information, that is how a list is built virally. Those 5 people put in 5 more names, etc.

The second is in regards to ads for your web site (see traffic digger and freeviral above). You place an add on a page with other people, and promote that page. When other people sign up underneath you to put their add on that page, they advertise your add along with yours. It keeps building from then on.

I think that from the word "viral" itself, viral marketing is like spreading an information usually a promotional thing about something a product or a service like virus and this infects the whole mass.

It is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message.Viral marketing depends on a high pass-along rate from person to person. The classic example of viral marketing is Hotmail.com, one of the first free Web-based e-mail services.

Viral marketing is a great tool -- IF it applies to your audience.

If your business sells discount magazine subscriptions to retirees, they're less likely to ever pass along your email to their contact list or see your YouTube clip. The more 'interactive' web users (primarily younger) just won't care enough about what you're selling.

Any type of viral marketing is only effective if your final objective is to sell to the sort of people that are likely to participate in spreading your message.

Good thoughts on Viral marketing there, what works using viral marketing tool is offering something worthy of sharing like a good discount, unique information, great articles or offering an incentive for sharing like additional entries into a sweepstakes or an added discount. Jokes and cartoons are almost always forwarded to everybody the recipient knows. Because they are entertaining and entertainment is meant to be shared.

Default About Viral Marketing

Hi, I once was involved in a Viral Marketing campaign. It consisted of sending e-mail messages through an online platform called ConstantContact, which provides statistical information about the e-mails sent. Of course, it's important to design a good image and message for the campaign.

I understand "viral marketing" as a targeted mouth to mouth propaganda to transfer advertising messages. The viral effect occurs that you move people to transfer this message.
