Default How about having blog writers for high traffic web sites?

We have a podcast site with over 8,000 local subscribers. If we offer local writers the chance to write on our blog, how would we encourage them to get people to read their blogs on our site?

Done right, I think this can really work, but do you have suggestions on getting writers to spread the word about their own articles?

Well I think you would need to offer them something to make it worth their time to promote your site. It's easy enough to set up a blog that most writers will probably do that on their own sites.

Generally people give their content away to other sites to promote themselves and not that other site, unless they were getting something in return from that other site. For example say you ran AdSense on the blog. Splitting the revenue with the authors might be incentive to get them to promote you.

In general though I think most people write for other sites either for direct pay or to market themselves. If they have their own site they would most likely link to your site or their articles on your site, but I'm not sure they would actively promote your site unless they were getting something out of it.

I think a link is good enough. I do have writers who do not have their own blog and do not care to have one. Since my site has almost 10,000 subscribers, just the high amount of traffic and subscriptions is good enough to point people to their article in my opinion. I have Google Adsense on my blog, but I do not believe Google Adsense is the way to go. Since Google pays nothing for adsense unlike in the past, sharing with the writers is something I disagree with you on.

I do have podcast commercials and I share the ad revenues with the show hosts and that works out great for me and the show hosts.

I am trying to translate that into the blog. My idea would be to podcast the writers' articles and then share the ad revenue with them. I see that working very well, but I would share real podcast commercial ad revenue with them, not Google Adsense. The writers of the blog would definitely point people to listen to my podcasts of their blog articles since you cannot that too easily on a blog and maybe the writers don't like their voices anyway or I would call them "shy behind a microphone".
