Default Negative SEO

I launched a coming soon version of my site and when I hooked up google analytics I noticed I was getting traffic to the site. When I looked at where the traffic was coming from I noticed it was all websites that I had no affiliation with and had never visited, primary porn sites. I added something to my .htaccess file to block people coming from those sites, but I was wondering is there any negative impact on my site having this links pointing to my site. I was originally thinking if my bounce rate is high that would be a negative impact, since the people coming from those sites aren't staying on the my website at all. Besides that are there other negative impacts?

Those links may have been created from the previous domain owner. When Google sees non-relevant sites pointing back to your domain, it's usually an indication of spam but unless you've got tons and tons of backlinks, chances are, it's not going to really affect you. Bounce rates matter but again, it's only one piece of the puzzle and you most likely won't be penalized for it especially if it's a new site. What I would recommend doing is either reaching out to the sites and asking them to de-link you from their sites, or using the disavow tool that Gogole provides.

Are you sure it is real traffic? Did you find any links to your site on the porn sites?

Most likely this fake traffic with the goal of getting the porn sites to appear in your stat programs (aka referrer spam). Check to make sure your stat programs data is private. If not, then you may be backlinking to the porn sites - which is the purpose of referrer spam - and that could definitely harm your SEO.

Default Negative SEO

Negative SEO on a website can take many forms and cause varying degrees of damage, when applied to a competitors website. Negative SEO methods are used to convince search engines that they should punish a site for using Black Hat SEO techniques when they have not. Perpetrators found to be employing these risky Negative SEO methods would potentially be black listed by Google, not to mention pursued legally for loses.

Your website is seriously affected. Please check your website before it gets spammed. Block all those unwanted back links before its too late.

I recommend you to set up Google Webmaster Tools Email Alerts and keep track of your backlinks profile.

I think that can help you

Thanks for your help everyone. I blocked all the sites that were showing up in google analytics as referrers for the one's I did not recognize. That seems to have done the trick for those, but then the next day different websites started showing up. I wish there was a better way to block those sites instead of going one by one each day.

One question I have is kindsvater said

, what does that mean? Aside from contacting the sites directly are there other ways of getting the back links removed?
