Default SEO Or PPC Or Both?

Hey everyone, first post.

I have a small business roofing company in Los Angeles and I wanted to know which source of advertising is better? I've heard SEO takes a long time but PPC is not worth it? I'd love your opinions.

PPC will provide quicker results, but do your research to make sure you will get a proper return on your investment. It can be very expensive! When done properly, SEO is invaluable for a competive industry such as roofing, and even though it may take some time to see the results they are generally long-lasting. You do not necessarily have to hire an SEO company. Visit the SEO thread & check out the many suggestions. There may be some things you can do on your own initially.

You should seriously consider a combination of both methods. PPC for awhile until your SEO kicks in.

Most studies I've seen reveal that 75% - 80% of searchers click on organic search results while the remaining 20% - 25% click on the paid results. Just some food for thought.

Here is an article that helps you calculate whether or not PPC is cost effective for your business:

Talking SEO vs PPC

I advise taking a simultaneous approach if you can. PPC for my business is great for immediate results. SEO complements PPC lays the foundation for longer lasting results. You can't wrong doing both at the same time.

I would recommend you use both. PPC is faster but it does take some research and usually website mods to avoid wasting money. It can also get very expensive. SEO does take longer to see results, at least 60 days and depending on the competitiveness of the terms you target it could take a lot longer.

The advantage of SEO is once you do it right the results are long lasting and will not cost you a fee per click. There is a good article explaining in detail pay per click and ppc called SEO vs PPC.

I would do SEO but use PPC doing the time it takes for the SEO to show results. As my keywords start showing up in the natural listings I would than delete those keywords from the PPC campaign.

This is a case of things being equal but different. There's are pros and cons to each. it's like asking which is better, newspaper or yellowpages advertising. It depends on who you are and what's you're trying to get out of it.

You can try PPC, but you need to be really creative, because there is a lot of competition.

SEO is for a longer term and you need more patient in doing this but SEO has lot more benefits in terms of traffic and advertisements, visitors always come back if there's a new idea like new and unique content and you can always submit your articles in article sub while in PPC your focus is your competition in advertising and fast results.
