Forums are like an IRC (chat room). Forums are actually better in my mind because it is much easier to find relative conversations. Forums help us connect with people in the same fields, make it easy to share our ideas, talk about strategies, and join forces.

Hell yeah, you can learn a lot in forums in lesser time than researching on it on the web. And people share the knowledge gain through experience besides discussing mutual interest on a subject matter.

Forums are a great way to learn new things you can't see in blogs or news sources.

Great way to connect with people but also to exchange ideas. I've gotten countless ideas over the years from discussions I've had with people in forums.

Forums, the right ones, are always the place filled with plethora of information.

At the same time, it is a home to mixed culture, which will help you to identify the needs of different communities as well, apart from getting new ideas for a business.

Yes it is beneficial for your website if you are posting on forums. You will get both traffic and PR juice to your website. If you are doing relevant discussions then there are chances you will get conversions.

An important aspect of forum posting is the reality that the majority of viewers don't post… they read.

If you consistently post high quality, relevant, useful content, your status as an authority figure grows exponentially.

With an intelligent strategy for building your reputation and the trust of your target audience, this can translate into higher traffic to your own web presence and higher conversion rates for your offers to that trusting audience.
