I need to declare an interest (see my signature) but I don't think WordPress is much good for an ecommerce site. It was originally 'just' simple blogging software that has been added to over the years to do what it was not originally designed for.

I believe your best bet would be Drupal, which was built from the ground up to be fully fledged database based website software, and the 'Ubercart' add-on which was tailor made to create a store on a Drupal site.

Drupal used to be the software of 'geeks' but Drupal 7 is now as simple to use as WordPress. Easy to install, easy to configure, easy to upgrade and easy to turn into an ecommerce site.

Zen Cart: it comes with cPanel, it has lots of plugins and modules and other options, and there's a vast support forum available to you if/when you have trouble with it...
