I often interview applicants that apply sales position at my office. Here are the traits that I usually pay attention to:

1. Body language
2. Communication style
3. Appearance
4. Knowledge
5. Attitudes

Most of those things are interpersonal skills, and I don't even really care about his/ her past experiences as long as they have those 5 quality traits. In B2B sales, interpersonal skills really matter as you will likely deal with high-profile people and C level employees.

An individual who could be fit for sales should have a good communication skills. One should be passionate and has a knowledge of the product and services he or she wants to sell. A pleasing appearance is an added factor also.

Sales is never easy. A sales rep should be flexible with awesome communication skills (what most of us call, people skills). We also need to radiate a sense of upbeat-ness without sounding annoying. We talk to people based on the vibe that they give out. There are leads, prospects, and consumers that aren't all for small talk. There are customers that love to chit chat so a sales rep should be able to sense what type of customer he/she is talking to. I could go on and on about the traits that can let you have a great future in sales, but AngelBiz got most of them covered. Good job!
