Default Turning Your Blog Into An Effective Marketing Tool

We all keep blogs here at the place I work and lately I've realized that they are transforming into more than just your everyday typical blogs.

First off, we use our blogs to generate traffic for our site. One strategy we've been using lately is to submit our blogs to Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, and other social bookmarking sites. Just today, these sites have helped our CTO's programming-related blog score more than 8,000 hits and over 200 comments. If one of us writes a blog that gathers some attention, we go back in and add a plug for our company and product at the bottom.

Secondly, we use our blogs to spread our company name. We're a fairly small startup and we compete with the likes of Microsoft and Oracle so we'll take any publicity we can get. We think these large companies overshadow the countless employees they have, and we think by giving every employee here their own medium to share what they have to say we can connect on a more personal level to our potential customers.

Finally, it seems that blogging has evolved into more of a contest than just something people enjoy doing. Whoever writes a blog that generates the most traffic gets bragging rights for the week, as well as the pleasure of (sometimes) seeing their blogs on the front page of social bookmarking sites. Gives you that feeling that it's all worth it!

What about you guys? Is blogging turning more into a way of life than just words on a computer? Also, check out the link to my blog in my signature!

Blogging has so meaning right now. To be honest guys, I see it as an opportunity for everyone to learn, earn and express one self to the world. Its a right, responsibility and redemption. Rights as everyone has the right to express anything what he feels. Responsibility as bloggers should understand that every word that he release on the W3 is that he should be liable of it. Redemption, providing a good means of satisfying ones financial needs.

Sorry if I can't organize well but that's what I see about blogging.

Very true certifypers. Considering how open our lives are now, even without blogging, your "three Rs" are very good rules to live by.

Yes, absolutely correct. Blogging has really helped many of us in generating traffic to our sites and also it allows one to express his own feelings, be it either related/not related but makes every visitor to visit our blog.

For me, blogging is a nice channel in building quality backlinks for our main sites and thus help a lot for our SEO jobs. Even better, it is a channel under our own controls but not like blog commenting.

Thanks,
