Hi,

If you want to make your shopping cart flexible then Magento shopping cart would be a great option. It is the best choice for any serious webshop because it offers complete flexibility and control over the look, content, and functionality of an Online Store.

Just curious to know if Magento is good from security perspective.... I heard and read somewhere that it's not fully tested, so there may be some security issues

Hi,

From a security perspective open source software code can be read by anyone from "the inside". Being able to "know" how software works from the inside out means that it is far easier to find security weaknesses. It also means that there are lots of people in the open source community who are able to find solutions to any new security weaknesses and patches do become available to stop the security vulnerability quickly. So It is important to keep an eye out for security vulnerabilities and apply the patchs or fixes quickly.

Default Joomla and Virtuemart

I suggest looking seriously into Joomla and Virtuemart. Open source solution which is updated regularly and works! There are free templates available if you don't want to customize the default templates but one of the best you can find at rockettheme.com (will cost you some but looks really good).

I've done a lot of research on this and Zen-cart seems the best

Take a look at AspDotNetStorefront. By far the best shopping cart I've used.

It purely depends upon your need and skill level. If you have access to your server, then you can go with open e-commerce solution.

There are many Shopping carts around the Internet which are free. one I must recommend in the Zen cart. This cart contains all the features related to the delivery and payment of the product.
