Default Handyman

I am a licensed contractor that specializes in handyman repairs. I had a good radio ad about 5 years ago with the Lone Ranger theme with the catch phrase "hi ho screwdriver and away". Then I moved from radio to cable networks (spending $3k month) and lost the radio copy. I like copying other successful ads (or other business ideas). We also do some junior billboards and have good name recognition. I want people to pick up their phone and call. Does anyone have a good idea for a theme or humorous ad to get homeowners to call. I had a weekly frequency of 31 with ROS on talk radio.

Do they not have the copy on file at the station? We keep stuff on file forever (or so it seems) on our station.. maybe not the sound files, but it should be on paper if you liked what you had before.

It's Friday night and my mind is too fried to be humorous or creative at the moment, but maybe someone will have some ideas over the weekend.

You might want to tweak the frequency depending on the price - depending on what ROS means on the station you're on, you might want to consider a 6a-6p run instead.

Default Don't forget these elments

Be creative with your script, but don't leave out these informations:

- Who you are?

- What is it you are offering/event?

- Where to get the offering/event?

- When is it?


- How to get it?

Call to action is crucial in radio ads. Repeating your company or product name is also a suggestion. A lot of radio ads repeat the phone number or web address at the end, because some experts said that listeners would mostly recall the "INTRO" and "ENDING".

I think radio advertising is better than cable advertising. Repeating your company or product name is good suggestion.

Make it as simple as possible, people can't hear too many clutters and information in less than a minute. So you'd better get the main point straight out, no fluffs.

Highlight what you need to market, no details whatsoever, only the highlight, that's it. You can encourage the listeners to contact by inviting them to call you and get special offer, like 10% discount.

I know when I hear those crappy, jingle-like tunes for Handymen commercials I change it. Be classy, effective, professional, and most of all informative and I think you'll succeed.
