Hi

Take a look at your site from Mozilla - Your top menu errors up. You may want to play with the code to be compatible with multiple browsers and fix these types of errors before paying for advertising anywhere.

Regards

Gav

I found onewaytextlink.com to be a great resource.

The number of directories that offer any link value is slim at best. Check the topic you want to be placed in with the Google Toolbar and if itís cached and regularly submit. Otherwise donít waste your time. Most of the directory lists generate large volumes of directories that canít market themselves let alone your website and offer no link value.

Default Don't waste money in junk text links

While it is good that many sites link to yours, it may not be always true. Make sure you get links from the sites that are from the same industry as yours. Also, take time to check page ranks for sites that are ready to link.

I would highly recommend listing in Yahoo Directory. It does cost $299 per year but it is worth it. This alone is much better than buying bulk one-way text links. It will also increase your rank in Yahoo search.

Our site ranks #1 for the keyword "pet classifieds" and many others in Yahoo search.

True, many/most directories are not worthwhile. As with link exchanges and really any link ... if the page/site providing the link is not well promoted in a quality manner, its all for not. I agree the Yahoo directory is worth the $299 for most. If its not worth it for your site, then consider your site needs to improve conversions if you can't justify it from an ROI standpoint for a year listing. That said, if you have a limited budget - I would place some of it towards paid directories to better establish a new or existing site. Here are a few that I have had good experiences with. A site who is included in each of these is pretty well established within search directories versus most competition.

Web Site Directories

Directory Year PageRank Fee Submit
Yahoo 1995 PR9 $299.00
DMOZ 1999 PR9 $000.00
BOTW 1994 PR7 $149.95
MSN bCentral 1999 PR7 $049.00
Business 2000 PR7 $199.00
GoGuides 2001 PR6 $069.95
JoeAnt 2001 PR6 $039.99
Gimpsy 2002 PR6 $040.00
Skaffe 2003 PR6 $039.99
Tygo 2003 PR6 $039.99
BigAll 2004 PR6 $014.95
Linkopedia 1998 PR5 $009.95
Massive Links 2003 PR5 $019.99
Site Snoop 2003 PR5 $010.00
Web Beacon 2004 PR5 $039.99
01 Web Directory 2005 PR5 $049.00

I've ordered these 'roughly' from top to bottom based on what I would allocate a limited available budget to. I would shoot for at least 10 different directories initially and then continue seeking out more and adding to others as you can over time. Don't make it a one time thing. While many of the comments above are correct that a lot of directories are worthless, others can be very beneficial based on my experiences. For example, some provide more than 1 link with deep linking to your most important categories.

What directories not on this list would others add?

Thanks for this link... I love it that you can search right there to see which directories your site is listed with.

I wonder if he gets much business with that page?
