I have been using it and yes I found it very helpful. Moreso than some of the other things. There are a lot of headhunters on there but drilling passed them, you can find a lot of interesting names. I have added a few CEOs from large organizations, Senior VPs, etc to my list and have received some very helpful idea and resolutions.

You can pay to subscribe and have then that gets you 3 invites and so many introductions (which have come in very handy).

They are even hosting get-togethers almost every month. This month, a lot of them are actually in Boulder.

Just like anything else, you get out what you put in. I have been using LinkedIn since the early days where there was not much use other than being able to tell people about it. Now, I am contacted daily and can be a connector adding value to others. The key is a good profile and invite your network - than choose whether or not you want connect with just anybody - there are pros and cons and depends on your networking goals. Don't hesitate to contact me if you want details. Also, find my profile and invite me with a reason we should connect.

Look for me at the next LinkedIn Live in Denver or Boulder. Locals that want to get on that list should be sure they are connected to Mike Oneil - he is an open networker.

I didn't realize there were get togethers through LinkedIn and I'm apparently in the area where many seem to be.

I can't say I've been an active participant in LinkedIn though, but based on what you're both saying I probably should spend more time with it.

Yes VanGogh, you definitely are. Check out Integrated Alliances. I think this is one organization that handles a bit. This is who one of my last emails from from actually.

I would imagine other areas have something similar. I have not been able to attend one of them yet but hopefully soon.

Thanks for the link Corey. I'll have to look deeper into it and see if I can find others.

It sounds like Linked In is similar to other social networking sites such as Direct Matches. Direct Matches, Ryze, Adland Pro, My Space, and others can be very useful if used in the right way. I would say Linked In is probably the same way. You have to work it, track your results, and then make a decision if it is worth your while.
