Default Inbound Links

So quality inbound links are important, but it seems there's also a difference in the type of link - in the text that is linked.

Is it good to have lots of other sites out there that link to my home page using just my url? and how does that compare with links using key words rather than the actual url, such as in my signature?

It seems that both are beneficial but the latter is better - is that correct?

For me a link with a keyword phrase embeded with a url (anchor text link) has produced greater results with traffic and rank.

Relevant anchor text is definitely a plus if used in your back links! You also want links to other pages on your site (not only the homepage) that, if at all possible, contain anchor text relative to the destination page.

Hi Amir Watynski,

If a company ran a TV commercial with their company name would you know what they sell? This would only work company name incorporated your product/service.

Search Engines are similar, if the anchor text pointing to your site is 'Inbound Links' and your website is about 'Inbound Links" search engines will say, "His website is about inbound links and others think it is about inbound links...so we will think it is about inbound links."

Deep Links, which are links going to your internal pages (not just your home page) should be organized the same way. The more your anchor text relates to the web page it is linking to the better.

NOTE: Many people forget Google views your internal links just as important as external links. Don't spend all your time getting external links if you have not organized your internal links properly...could be missing out on great links.

Jeff
