Great Article. It really surprised me how many small business owners are clueless about running a profitable business.

Also, you could add poor customer service, fear of failure and resistance to change.

definitely agree on the undercapitalization - I know that's what is killing my business right now, lol. Spent all my start-up money on product, now I have nothing left for marketing

A good website design is indeed a reason for a website to fail online. And the website desperately needs to be promoted otherwise it will be of no use.

Business plans plays a vital role in any type of business. And in creating business plan, these things must be addressed.

Next, be sure to address the following:

* People (Have you hired the right ones?)
* Product or service (Can you build and deliver it? Will it fly?)
* Market (Is it big enough? Can you reach it?)
* Financial (How much will it cost us?)

Great article, thanks.

Many also make the mistake and do not recognize the difference between the cash they have in the bank and their cash flow requirements. This could fall under "They're incompetent", but is in most cases just that they are naive.
