Usually I list my items on a Thursday evening and they end in 10 days time on a Sunday evening between 6-7pm. This works for me most of the time. Saturdays aren't as good as a weekday evening.

List the item on Sunday.
Listing a standard seven day auction late Sunday afternoon into early evening will give you the best chance of a great auction selling price. More people are likely to be home and you will get the exposure of the remaining part of that day and the entire following Saturday. If you live on the east coast of the United States, list it somewhere between 6 and 9pm. This will give people on the west coast ample time to see it. Ideally, you want as many people to see it in the last few hours as possible, which is when most people make the decision to buy.

To me, the perfect time is 7-10 pm.
It's when most people are at home surfing the internet, including eBay.

I have been selling on eBay for 15 years, and although I still listen to what other people are saying, my experience has been to have the auctions end on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs and Sunday evenings, usually between 6:30 and 7PM and between 6pm and 7pm on Sunday. Fixed priced items for 30 days or till cancelled, don't seem to matter as much, because they could sell at any time.
