Lightbulb Did You Track Those Keywords that Resulted in SALES

Tracking Web site/Search Engine Keyword Positions and tracking Web site Keyword referrers is important

But tracking Keywords that resulted in either a Sale or, at least an invitation to respond with a sales call is even better

Has anyone kept track of them, then successfully Optimized their Web sites to incorporate these keywords for better placement on Search Engines

What methods did you use - and how long did it take for re-newed search engine optimization?

Lightbulb How about tracking the Location of your Hits

Thank You...

This is an interesting tool for tracking the location of IP addresses that visit your site or send you email - of course - there are others - but just love this copy and paste abiltiy and "certainty" ranking

also shows the nearby cities...

Good for furture "fine-tuning" your marketing efforts - as well as finding potential pockets of interest ... Hmmmm

!!, it's essential to be able to track the keywords that result in sales (or other measurable actions) on your Web site, but keep in mind that you don't just want to track the ones that are already working for you.

Granted, if you are just starting out with search marketing, looking to see what phrases already result in sales is a good plan..you can work to increase the ranking on those phrases and know that you'll be receiving more quality traffic...

But when you take on a search marketing campaign you also want to look for new phrases that you are not already receiving tracking for...that's where a tool like Wordtracker comes in handy...you can enter phrases that are related to your offerings and find out exactly what combinations people use to look for your product...then you can target phrases that you hadn't already thought of...

Wordtracker tracks hits

Overture Keyword Suggestion tracks hits

Google Adwords tool track hits

but knowing whether simple terms or relatively more complex terms were the ones that generated the actual sales or phone call is the real puzzle

Were the more complex terms the result of not finding success with the simple terms - or where those searchers, just by their own ablities, able to immediately ZERO-IN on the specifics

Equally as puzzling is how far down past the #1 ranking did they go before landing on YOU - and why were YOU able to satify them.

A couple of other places that people might not think of, but which might give you a couple of ideas of words that people might use that you might not be upon your pages:

Emails from potential customers:

Are they referring to your products and services with words that you might not have thought of? It's worth checking through your old emails to see if you can get some ideas>

Logs of Site Searches.

When people are on your site, if you have a search box, what do they try to find? What do they expect to find? Why? Are you missing oppotunities? Is your site sending the wrong message somehow? Are there words that a lot of people use that you don't, and that you should?
