I use Avast and also AdAware(free), they seem to be satisfactory. Once in a while I turn them off and go to Trend Micro and let their 'Housecall' program scan my machine, just in case something has been missed.

AVG works great for me. I've also tried other anti virus like Norton and Kaspersky but its more hassle to use. Another great anti virus to use is ESET Nod32.

For the past few years I have been very happy with ESET Smart Security. I have used Norton and McAfee in years past, but I like this one much more.

Now a day's they all offer just about the same benefits. AVG is the big one, but seems to slow everything down just a little, especially if you install and use the browser bar feature. I use a combination of free services that seem to work very well. Down fall is that one free software does small popups every so often in the lower right of my screen. Small trade off for a free service though.

Avira, Malwarebytes, Avast, and CCleaner.
