Default Blogging Content - Success Story

A bit of background, in January I was handed the task of improving the website rankings, mind you, with limited knowledge and access to the website. Not being able to add content to the main site as I wish I could, I started blogging.

This new blog in 3 months is out-ranking our website for 2 of our 3 main key phrases. Content is King

That is awesome! When I am asked by clients how to get top ranking, my answer is:

3 things:
1. content
2. content
3. content

Then, there's meta tags, link building, and all of the other tools - none of which should be omitted or practiced alone. But, like you say, good content is king!

Well, I've just started a blog so i can't show you any major stats. Though already after a week there has been a 25% increase in traffic.

Will this traffic turn into business opportunities? Don't know.

But I'm willing to give it 12 months to find out.

At the very least, I have no doubt, I'll improve my writing and content generation skills.

I enjoy the process and it's allowing me to get thoughts down quickly so that I can later develop into decent articles.

In the mean time getting some feed back on which topics people would like to read more about will let me know which articles to move forward with.

One way or another it should be an interesting experiment and other than 15 minutes every couple of days it won't cost me a cent.

I've been working on another project, sorry for the delay.

Has it paid off the blog? I am up to over 5,000 page views on the blog in less than 3 months, and within that time it has sent 100 people to our website. With out competative keywords, its hard to find a "niche" so I figure any little bit helps.

Behind this is content, and being that I am not provided with any, I have to write it myself, and I have never taken a class on it. I think it has become a passion and its great to see your numbers go up.

Better yet, its great to say..hey, the blog, that Ive created and written is out ranking a 9 year old web site, which in recent months I have gotten to jump in rankings as well for keywords, but I dont have full access, and we are in the midst of finding a developer..etc..

Thanks for all your comments!

Crimson - Im with you, it will be awhile to see pay off, but in our industry, if this brings in one client for us that decides on a custom rental exhibit we will have paid for my time & efforts!
