Maybe not talking about the same thing- but I use a redirector that goes to an out.php?site=keyword for two reasons - so that my affiliate links don't show jawedagawo.com/refer?... (the CJ urls) and so that it's not so blatantly obvious it's an affiliate link... I also use it as a click counter - is this something Google is going to want to penalize me for?

It may not end up an issue, but in that scenario I would exclude the page out.php with robots.txt so that page isn't included within google.

Oh wow, I didn't know that search engines didn't like cloaked links? This is good to know before I do any more cloaking links on my sites. Thank you for this information,very helpful to know this....uuugggghhhh, I got to go over some things on my sites and undo some cloaked links. Just glad I read this now befor I get too many pages or articles written and before thinking about cloaking links further.
