Welcome. The truth is that the most popular source for new businesses is yourself, family and then friends. Write a list out of everyone you know. Thats step one.

I would definitely not recommend starting a new business on borrowed money, unless you are very experienced in the industry you will start the new business, have lots of associates who have already committed to purchasing your products or services in large quantities and have already paid a sufficiently large amount in total to cover at least 50% of your start-up costs.

(Actually, if you are in that position, you probably wouldn't be asking here for a source of money.)

Other than that, it would be foolhardy to start a small business on borrowed money. I wouldn't even recommend borrowing from friends and family unles your own money is more than 50% of total funds.

If you cannot start on your own, partner with someone you already know and trust who has the money and work the new business as a partnership. Failing that, go get a job, save hard and organize yourself towards starting your new business with your own money.

I wish you well.

I agree... starting a business on borrowed dollars can be difficult. But can you expand a little?? What type of business?? What's the investment?? What's your experience? Who is your market??

Knowing that, there could be sources, but you need to expand on the topic.

find a partner or any person who will invest in your business. Then you can go to the bank and ask for a loan. Work and earn money for your future business.

Depending on what kind of business you'll have, you might consider factoring as a way to generate funds. You have to sell to other businesses and have some customers already, but it's a sometimes overlooked source of financing.

When I started my business I struggled with this. What you may want to do is if you are still working a 9-5 then you could save money from your start up. Depending on what you want to do you could have varied start up costs. If they are low then you can proceed forward faster. If not, you have to wait awhile. I started my business without borrowed money. It took longer to profit, but at least I didn't have the debt over my head.

accordingto me there 4 solutions for financing the startup of your small business:

1. If you need a steady source of income to meet your financial obligations (and keep your family covered by health insurance) start the business as a part-time venture.

2. Start the business from home.

3. Apply for a home equity line of credit.

4.Look for angel capital groups.

I am agree with Logan. You can borrow some money from your loving persons or you can also use the business resources to get start up loans. Government as well as other organization provide start up business loans. Prepare a smart business plan and use it properly.

Best of luck for your new business jmidkiff510!!

You should try crowd shareholding at anaxago ! It's really nice, if your business is promised to a great future, be sure to get funded there.
