Default Does A Sales Rep Get The Same Amount Of Commission On A Repeat Advertisement?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. hopefully

I am starting a magazine and don't much about the sales end of it. A sales rep I am thinking of hiring wants $500 a week base pay plus 20% commissions on every sale plus repeat sales. I was thinking of $500 a week, 20% on new sales and 10% on repeat sales. Any advice would be very helpful. If I was to pay him what he is asking, I would barely cover costs. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks so much

I don't know much about the magazine business, but would imagine they get something for new business they bring in and for repeat purchases....much like your insurance agent gets paid as long as you keep renewing your policy.

How about checking out a few magazine websites to look for any open positions listed and see what they're offering?

Good way to keep a steady turnover of reps.

Default Sales commission for magazine reps

Hello My name is Renee Smith and I have worked as an account representative for several magazines. It sounds like this person is trying to take you for your inexperience. I may have gotten a draw against my commissions but never received a salary and the commissions that this sales representative is looking for. I was also considered one of the best in my area. I receive and have received a 20% commission on my new accounts and repeat customers as long as I serviced my accounts. The residual is common in the business. You are right if you pay your sales representative what they are looking for you will have a hard time making it. You need to check this persons references very carefully. I would suggest that you look for another representative.
