Default Business Meeting Icebreaker

This icebreaker is ideal for one of those infamous brainstorming sessions. You may feel free to tailor the below for a particular situation, this one is focussed on finding changes.

The magic genie appears (that's you, the facilitator), and grants each delegate three wishes. The wishes may be anything, but must be related to changes at work - the job, colleagues, the role of the team, even the boss!

Each member writes down their three wishes, and posts them on the wall. This can be anonymous if you like.

Then spend 10 - 15 minutes, depending on the size of the group, going around the room and discussing the changes. Look for common themes. Leave the lists up for the rest of the session.

Yeah, collaboration is very important to the success of an institution; and this game seems doable from my perspective -- visitor at Toastmasters International. -- vice pres. of computer club. -- college etc.

Should somebody monitor the results, is this like brainstorming?

Tell everyone why they are there: What's your objective and why did you invite those people.

Layout the ground rules and expectations for the meeting and their future participation.

Invite honest and open feedback of yourself.

Be personable. Look at every person at the table. These are your colleagues.

Default Love the idea

In the past we have used a similar tactic. We ask the group, if they could use a magic wand and change one thing about (insert problem) what would that change be.

I like your version, as it brings in participation and insight from the entire group. Thanks
