Default Direct Mail For Answering Service???

We offer Live Answering services for small businesses. Looking for more ways to reach the small business owner and independent consultants.

I have never done direct mail before so I thought I would drop a note in here and see what others think about our chances of success with a direct mail campaign with this type of business.

I would suggest a 2-step marketing sequence... integrating your own service into it. That helps "demo" what you do, while offering a valued service.

Example:

I would create a special report titled, "5 Costly Mistakes Business Owners Make With In-Bound Phone Calls!" ... or something like that.

Send a direct mail campaign to your target audience offering the FREE report.

To receive the FREE report, all they do is pick up the phone and call your LIVE agents and give their information... and a copy of the report will be immedately mailed / emailed to them.

Make sense?

It does two things:

1) It utilizes a proven marketing model... the 2-step

2) It demonstrates your service

Now, you better make DARN SURE that...

a) Your people answer the phone quickly and courteously because you're in "live demo mode"

and...

b) That your people are well coached on what to do in terms of taking that inbound call.

Hope this helps...

That's great advice, I am actually working on a mail piece now.

Thanks!

Also make sure to send multiple letters out, either different kinds of letters or a sequence of letters so that you can test what kind of copy works best for your prospects.

PS: Always!!! Run a test before committing too much money to your direct mail campaigns. Don't do bulk mail and you can always follow up a sequence of letters with a phone call
