Yes, but just because someone wakes up and has a problem doesn't mean that's when you start marketing to them. To be proactive is the name of the game, by getting listed or your clients listed on major local directories such as Google+, Yelp, SuperPages, Yahoo, Manta, etc

Then solicting reviews from happy clients (emphasis on real reviews). SEO should also be factored in, and lastly there will be people in a panic searching for keywords in your area that you can instantly target with Google Adwords PPC. A mixture of everything will help you and your clients.

I suggest that you take a moment and write down "10 Ways to Deal with a Minor Ant Problem." Maybe there are only 5 ways... but you get the idea.

People don't want to call an exterminator unless it's a serious issue. So now write down "X Ways to Know You've Got a Serious Ant Problem."

After you have your lists created you should flesh them out. Start with the first list and explain, in full sentences, how someone knows it's a minor infestation and what they can do about it.

Then go into what a major infestation looks like. That's when they should call an expert. Tell them what they should look for in an expert (hint: all of the things you offer).

Surprise! You've just created valuable content for your website that you can give away for free (after they sign up to your "ant information" email list).

Why do this? When you start any marketing campaign you've got to have something to market beyond your "standard" product. Most people think an exterminator is an exterminator.

Show them you are on their side by letting them know that some things can be handled cheaper and easier than calling a professional.

You can also send low cost advertising to businesses and homes but instead of saying "do you need an exterminator?" you can say "Go to our website to download our free guide that tells you 10 Ways to Deal With a Minor Ant Problem."

That way you'll also have proof that your advertising is working.

Good luck.

Default Google Places Optimization

Investing in local search shouldn't break anyones bank, especially because of how important it is. The future of search is Mobile search (searching from smart phone) and mobile search is LOCAL search.

I'd start with making sure your Google places page is built, optimized and full of great photos. Tying this is with your website and more directories is a great investment you can make.

Lots of ideas here but where is the ant man? So which idea is first, I think he is scared off...

I like the simple idea of packaging your expert information first into a word document then converted to PDF.

Know the points but can't write it...outsource it...my favorite is the content authority cost .01 to .05 per word. I have no affiliation...there are many places just Google it...

In my opinion the list document is the best "Top 10 ways to control an ant infestation" or Best practices to keep the ants out...Everybody needs this information...This is a short report 5 to 10 pages that informs but is incomplete. BTW: Straight from Jimmy D Brown's playbook.

What is missing is the expert advice on whether I have an ant problem or not. Call to action is at the end and in the footer...call the ant man at...Phone number...

Low tech way first is to just direct mail the report to consumers in the local area with the phone number and an offer. Start small and test the water...if your report works do more...

High tech is to set up a splash page with auto-responder used to collect name and email then send post cards in the area talking about how to get the info. They sign up they get the report...you got the start to an email list.

There are tons of ways to do this...but most important point here is "the content is king"...

Just my thoughts,

You might also want to consider having your own free mobile compatible website since most people are using their phones,so having one will definitely increase your business exposure and optimize customer engagement..

Yes, of course a potential customer won't look for flyers or newspaper ads at that time. Internet will be the first call to action under these circumstances. Keeping that in mind, I suggest you creating a Google+ profile for your business(Even Facebook and Twitter pages if possible). Next is, listing your business in Google's local listing, that is the best way your potential customers might find you.

Have a great day!
