Im glad that you posted this thread, for all the newbies to see....how hard it can be to get noticed. Yes, Virginia -- its months of __________; and not much fun in the sun.

Could you provide link to you site, and tell us which search are you talking about.....Google?

I would like to recommend you to go through once again the whole strategy, keyword selection as well as promotion ways, and selected niche. This critical analysis will certainly help you to track the gap area. Then revise your strategy again to achieve good rankings using seo popular tools.

SEO changes all the time. It is nothing to be worried about. Although I would advice you to improve your content (will definitely help for people to come back) and just keep updating your website.

I agreed with smallbus01, Now these days content and website authority is most important thing in SEO, If your website has authority and great content that people love and want to share, socialize, that works in this world.

SEO changes all the time
I'm not looking for an argument, but I disagree. The algorithms (algo's) change all the time... but that is only the search engines trying to do their job (and stay ahead of the spammers).

I personally developed a website in 2004 that was optimized from the start; full of good content; articles; helpful information. Yes, it was a full bore store too... but the store side (for hard products) has been dropped. Now, it only sells information products and DVD's.

It continues to rank on the first page of Google in position 1-5 (depending on the actual search term) and gets well over 2,000 unique visitors a day. I have done NOTHING to the pages (over 300) since I set the site up.

SEO doesn't change. It's the same basics. Well, not really basics... but the same 10 things you need to do all the time, every time. I can say that I disagree from my own experience.

Maybe you're doing it wrong? Recheck how you do things. Keywords, links, content. Especially content and keywords.

You don't have to worry about these. Now the content and the quality of website still be the most important things Google refer to. Good wine needs no bush, Just enrich and beautify your website.
By the way, Google has started to focus on user experiences. Take this opportunity, you can make use of the SNS.
