Default Forum Linking

Can someone show me an example of a good forum post that you can put a link to a website without getting considered spam or being banned from that forum.
I try to post intelligently but I still seem to get banned somehow.

Is it because I try posting the link in my first few posts even though it doesn't appear that i'm trying to sell anything.

Should I wait to post a link to my site until I've posted a number of times or does that matter?

I am new here as well and i got dinged for self promotion even though i was answering a question about what i do.

I also "link dropped" which is to build a proper link based on a anchor text in a post even though this is the "proper link strategy" it is not popular in forums.

You should be here to help others or to get help from others and not to gain links to your site. took me a post or two to figure that out.

Put your website in your signature.

Not all forums give you a spot for your link. In fact none of the one's I am currently trying to build a reputation with do. When your focused on medical forums like I am trying to do I have found it even harder. I think I have finally found a solution.

When link dropping on a forum make sure it's not the link to a site that sells products. Don't describe your products in any way. Use your blog. If your a website about anything you should have a blog or something of the sort about your website. My website sells medical equipment, there fore my blog is about how to use this medical equipment properly.

So if I am on a medical forum Link Dropping to my "how to use medical equipment blog". Forum owners do not see this as soliciting in there forums, they see it as useful information. Now your blog needs to somehow link to your site.

So hopefully (this has mostly been in theory because I have not analyzed the results yet) (but I have not been banned from a forum using this strategy) You get a chain reaction from people going from the forum, to your blog, to your website.

These are my hopes I will let you know how it turns out.

Any other information will still be greatly helpful and appreciated

-Thanks!

That's the solution here. I don't think other approaches that include link drops within the post are worth attempting. Most links within posts are going to be perceived as spamming.

I'm not link dropping anything here, I am definitely getting help for my basic website needs and helping others.

I meant for other forums which could actually generate sales to my website (a medical website nothing I would think people would go to from here and buy something)

I thought people used this method a lot... am I wrong?

Just contribute your ideas and opinions in the forum. Include your link in your forum signature but not in the text itself. That should be ok for most forums.

Wow...I'm new here too, and I think that I just did the wrong thing too. When answering a question I provided an affiliate link..yikes! O.k. Won't do that again.

Ultimately I guess it is up to the forum admins and the overall policy of the forum.

For the most part I think they delete comments containing links because they are simply sick of getting spammed to death and don't want to encourage it any more than it already happens.

They will be even more skeptical when you are a new person. It takes at least a little while to earn someone's trust. You might be the most trustworthy and most authoritative person in the world. But, it is going to take a while for them to get used to seeing your high quality comments before they come to realize you are looking out for everyone's best interests.

So, my advice is to make sure that you are taking your time when answering other people's questions. Make sure you are making a real effort to help that other person. Be thorough in your explanations. Once you have a little trust equity built up, then admins will be less trigger happy when reviewing your comments that contain links.

It depends on how you post. Sometimes administrators just ban you because of the constant posting of your links, sometimes you get reported by fellow users for spam.

Well I found it effective to only post your link on every other blog post, that way you get off the administrator's radar and not get banned.
