Default Should I Be On Etsy?

I own my own craft sales business for about a year now. I've been doing OK with it, but I'm wondering if I should join Etsy to get more visibility. However, I'm starting to think that Etsy is overrated and getting clogged with crafts. Would I be better sticking with my own site, or should I ditch it for Etsy? Thoughts?

There's really no way to tell for sure without trying it. It depends on what your craft items are, what your price point is and how good you are at marketing your own site (among other things).

And, of course, there's nothing I know of that says you can't do both. (Best of both worlds and all that...)

Is there a way to sign up for Etsy without committing yourself to a long term so you can test it for yourself and see?

Keep working on your site, don't drop that as it is important to have your own site... but also try etsy as torka and $$maker said and give it a test. when questioning to do one or another, i often conclude trying both is best ... test, test, test.

There is no harm in trying. You can only know what is the best after you've tried it. Just keep working on your site. At the same time, go on Ebay and Etsy. These sites give creative individuals the chance to start up their own business online.

Why can't you maintain both sites at the same time so you can test the waters so to speak? Seems to me that would be the best choice.

etsy will help you sell hundreds of new items if you can market your store correctly.
