Lightbulb New Branch of Link Exchange Strategy

Link Exchange may have branched off From SEO

But, now a there is relatively new branch of Link Exchange being called
"triangular" or "3rd Party" or "Three-Way"
under the theory that some SEs give an extra point of two to non-reciprocal Direct Exchanges

A sub-branch of this - is putting up a large directory with a Separate Domain name and directing all potential partners from various Web sites to post there. Under the theory that one larger directory where catagories link to each other will development a more Yahoo/DMOZ-like credibility, Increased PageRank, and SERPs as it grows larger and larger.

It would be interesting to see how link exchange strategies and the new profession evolves by the end of this decade!

Triangular linking is old hat now Yahoo has already worked it out.

Linking will change beyond all recognition within 2 years IMo. You can kiss goodbye to volume backlinks etc as Google moves into using hilltop and semantecs, along with MSN & Yahoo who are all playing with semantec relevance of links. also Block link analysis will change the way people link, or the way that link importance is measured more like.

All this link mongering will count for very little sometime in the future, as on topic relevance will be the way ahead.

Question

The Irony is that many of these "esoteric" theories originate from TEOMA - and just look at their relevancy

in the case of Microsoft - until recently - their beta's relevancy were almost a joke

In the case of Google - they seemed to be at their relevant-best about two years ago - according to many Webmaster responses to a poll posted on two other forums.

But there is one interesting point - regardless of how SEO'd a site is - and how much effort is put into link exchanges - the people who do go to all that effort do have relevant sites - they may be more ambitious - but their sites ARE relevant.

The only thing that this new directions in Link Analysis is accomplishing is hurting the ambitious small business and the little guy and giving a extra step to the very large companies that are competing in the same space.

Also too much hi-techinterpretation may mean even more cases of the Google frenzy that now seems to happen much frequently than ever before.

There just may be so much programming - before the database cries - Ouuch!
