PPC is ideal to promote something unique you have which others don't. Because An ordinary ad will not catch the hold of the people, if they see something interesting in the yellow box, they'll definitely come to visit your site. So make sure your description is worth for paid advertising.

You can not estimate it. It all depends on the keyword you have chosen for your PPC campaign. And also depends on the product you are marketing.

Massive traffic won't guarantee ROI. It's the quality of inbound traffic. If visitors won't buy anything on your website then you won't make money, except to get a rank in SERPs. Converting traffic into a buying populace lies on how you communicate in your content.

Reinforce this organic SEO can increase the quality of traffic even further.

Default Should I do adwords

tip: I have a client first page and in some cases #1 position in search for target keywords. We have rich search listings content and this clients sees 10-20 lead conversions per day.

For those same keywords we rank in the in the top 3 paid 10/10 quality average position 1.4. When the paid ads stop its like the water pressure drops by 90%.

This is a specific niche service website and a very competitive one. "Buyers" don't have time to do research they want answers and they want them right now. Buyers tend to click on the paid ads because the message is crafted and typically is targeted to the need of the searcher to be affective.

I find this to be my own behavior when I am searching for myself and i am in "buy mode".

Completely agree with you. High rankings with no business are worthless.

So true, Panther. For instance, we were outsourcing our PPC for a few months. One thing I noticed was we were getting a ton of people searching for "Free Envelope Templates" or something similar.

And no one who is looking for an envelope template is looking to order custom envelopes online. And yet we're paying alot of money for this low quality traffic.

And Our PPC guy hadn't added any of these keywords to the negative keyword list.

That's when we realized it's better to keep PPC in-house.

Keep in mind that your PPC guy may not specialize in your business but they should have reviewed the keyword list with you to ensure that was caught early on.

We focus on granite countertops niche nationally but the traffic from the keyword "granite" is too general so instead of using this as a negative keyword we choke the bid.

In your case you sound knowledgeable to handle it yourself.

Good point! And I hate to put down our PPC guy, as he was really nice and helpful with other things.

But with that being said, I expected him to be doing some optimization (adding search terms to the negative list, testing ad variations etc.).

He had more of a set it and forget it approach, which was not worth the money we were putting out.

So if you are getting poor ROI on PPC what would be next best option for advertising?

I am getting 0.08% CTR - it makes me so depressed as I look at it haha
